Arsenal interest on Dayot Upamecano receive latest boost

Upamecano is a 21 years center back who plays for Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig. He has starred for several years now for Liepzig First team and Arsenal thus far have been chasing for his signature since last summer.

Report from Daily Mirror suggest that Arsenal have been interested in signig Upamecano even earlier on, when he was playing for France with Valenciennes. Arsene Wenger Could have secured his signature for as little as £1 as the player was little known and very young as well.

Now here we are amid Covid 19 pandemic that has shuttered most aspect of football and The Gunners still looking for a decent if not world class Center Back.

Due to corona virus outbreak, there have been uncertainties around when will the league resume and even more on how will be the transfers this summer be conducted. The feeling is that there will be no much activity on transfers owing to the financial and emotional damage sorrounding the whole issue of corona virus.

However, Arsenal received boost on their pursuit on the defender as Liepzig plans to find replacement if either Dayot Upamecano or Ibrahim Konate leave. It is understandably so as Upamecano contract expires in June next year.

According to Le10 Sport, Leipzig have entered the race for Barcelona wonderkid Jean-Clair Todibo the player who is expected to grow and fill the boots of either Upamecano or Konate in future.

In addition, Upamecano will prefer Arsenal where he will be guaranteed regular playing time to other teams like Barcelona where there will be competition from big names like Samuel Umtiti among others..
